In Nerf Nerf, Madeleine Mayo presents a large machine-like sculpture installation — a super-tool for these anxious times. Mayo imagines a drama of physical form, based on a variety of discreet personal tools made for self-soothing, and the repetitive gestures acted out in her own creative practice. Through colour, tactility, and ambiguous shape relationships, this super-tool implies movement and manipulates a whole cast of nervous sensations; seeking out curious and uncertain benefits in the process.
